The term "Takumi" refers to a master craftsman. In 2013, Nissan had only four Takumis, but now there are five. Their sole duty is the construction of the famed GT-R engine. These highly-skilled engineers draw from decades of experience, from auto racing to engine design. Each Takumi builds one engine, and proudly adds his name. Their expertise allows them to detect any discrepancies simply by listening. All engines in any GT-R generation have been crafted by Takumi. They are selected from existing employees, and undergo extensive training to receive this coveted job. Take note the next time you come across a GT-R engine - you may see a Takumi's name!
